At Timbuktu Travel Medicine, all travel health assessments are performed exclusively with Dr. David Botten.
Since completing his medical degree at Dalhousie University in Halifax, NS, and a residency in family medicine in 2002 at Queen’s University in Kingston, ON, Dr. Botten has practiced primary care medicine at Dalhousie Health Services, Capital Health’s hospital-based STI clinic, and CFB Halifax Stadacona hospital.
In 2011, Dr. Botten was awarded a Diploma in Travel Medicine designation by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Glasgow, after successfully completing its one-year academic program. He continues to be an Associate Member within its Faculty of Travel Medicine, and has been awarded the Certificate in Travel Health™ designation from the International Society of Travel Medicine.
Dr. Botten is a regular speaker on travel health for Dalhousie University’s Global Health Office, and is an examiner at medical licensing examinations for Canadian medical residents, family physicians, and international medical graduates. He is also an active member of the International Society of Travel Medicine (ISTM), and a part of the Canadian Travel Medicine Working Group.
